The project consists in the transformation of two street-facing shops into an apartment and studio for a photographer.

The apartment, organized mainly on the ground floor, is enriched by three levels with different degrees of intimacy.

The living area is crossed by a black metal structure, above which sits the working area. This gallery faces the living room and benefits from views onto the patio, while offering a space detached from the rest of the apartment.

Through the gallery, one can access the highest and most intimate level of the apartment. It is the only space with a warm tone, given by the wooden floor. The low ceiling — where one can barely stand — gives a cozy, boat-like feeling. This space has no fixed purpose; it could be perfect for reading a book or lying down for an afternoon nap.
The pitch-black structure of the gallery acts as a kind of barrier, making the upper level feel even more protected and intimate.
